Caroline Beam

Caroline Scott Armstrong Beam is a North Carolina New Teacher Support Coach with Appalachian State University who partners with teachers to explore their own professional goals by foregrounding assets and exploring goodness.  Caroline believes that teachers who are new to this career path bring experiences, knowledge, and understanding that can support students’ learning as well as their own development as teacher leaders.

Caroline has supported teachers in Elkin City Schools, Yadkin County Schools, Hickory Public Schools, and Appalachian State University’s lab schools at Middle Fork and at Elkin.  Currently she is collaborating with teachers, school, and district leaders to plan learning opportunities rooted in contextual relevance and best practice.  She is also working to become an edTPA scorer in the coming school year.

Caroline is licensed in the areas of English 9-12, Language Arts 6-9, School Administrator:  Principal, and School Administrator:  Superintendent.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary English Education (2004), a Master of School Administration (2011), and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership (2014), all from Appalachian State University.

When she is not supporting teachers, Caroline enjoys baking (check out Sally’s Baking Addiction), taking walks, and spending time with her husband and daughter.
