Sarah Petty, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Sarah Petty is an Instructional Coach with the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program (NC NTSP) for the UNC Chapel Hill Region. She began her career in education as a lateral entry high school social studies teacher. She taught Civics and Economics and AP Government and Politics in Vance and Durham counties.  After completing her Masters in School Administration at UNC in 2013, she worked as a Beginning Teacher Coordinator in Durham and as an Assistant Principal with Chatham County Schools. She has experience working with students and teachers at the elementary, middle and high school level and enjoys working to support new teachers at all levels. Sarah believes that new teacher support is a critical component in ensuring that all students have access to a quality public education. 

Sarah’s professional interests include exploring how instructional coaching can impact issues of equity in schools and supporting students with disabilities in the classroom.  Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her family and reading.
