Vanessa Smart
Vanessa Smart is an Instructional Coach for the New Teacher Support Program (NC NTSP) who supports beginning teachers by providing personalized support, opportunities for reflection on instructional practice, and targeted resources to strengthen classroom instruction. She focuses on creating meaningful school and community relationships with teachers, support staff, and school/district level administration.
Vanessa has served as a classroom teacher, beginning teacher mentor, and National Art Education Association Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Commissioner. Vanessa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education from Winston-Salem State University, a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, and a PhD in Educational Research and Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University.
When she is not coaching, Vanessa enjoys painting, sewing, printmaking, and spending time with her family!
