Dara Butler

Dara Butler is an Instructional Coach with the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program (NC NTSP)  who is passionate about partnering with beginning teachers to design joyful and equitable classrooms.  Dara believes in the power of relationships to transform education both within classrooms and across the broader school community, and works to create collaborative structures  for teachers to learn and share both expertise and problems of practice. 

Dara has worked in public education for over 20 years and has served as teacher, literacy specialist, curriculum designer, and coach. Currently she is exploring the powerful role that literacy practices in pre-k have in increasing equitable outcomes for all students. 

Dara holds a BA in English and Spanish from the University of Richmond, an Elementary Education Certification from Central Connecticut State University, and a M.Ed. in Literacy from Texas Woman’s University. Dara is licensed in Elementary Education (PreK-6), ELA (6-9) and Reading (K-12). 

When Dara is not working you can find her researching and trying out new recipes, hiking outside with her wife and their dog, Stuart, or cheering on their daughter at her many rock climbing competitions.
