Jackie Aponte

Jackie Aponte is an Instructional Coach for the New Teacher Support Program (NC NTSP). She supports beginning teachers in building engaged and welcoming communities for all students. Jackie also supports teachers in setting meaningful classroom goals and thoughtfully assessing, reflecting, and acting to progress toward those goals throughout the year. Jackie believes all students deserve classrooms where they feel welcomed, engaged, and empowered. She believes teachers deserve to be championed for the work they do to build, foster, and maintain such learning communities.

Jackie has served as a classroom teacher, department chair, curriculum and assessment writer, and instructional coach. She has experience increasing standardized test scores and reading growth for diverse populations of students. Currently, Jackie is working toward a graduate certificate in Anti-Racism from UNC-Charlotte, and a PhD in Social Studies Education from NC State University.

Jackie is certified in k-6 education and holds a k-12 reading specialist license. She received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology, and a master’s degree in Literacy Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

When she is not coaching, Jackie can be found hiking a local trail, reading a good book, supporting her oldest daughter in an art endeavor, or her youngest in whichever new sport or hobby seems to be holding her attention.
