Denise Hunt

Frances Denise Hunt was a middle grades English teacher for over a decade in Pitt County Schools. During this time, she was afforded multiple opportunities to hone her leadership skills both inside and outside of the classroom. She then transitioned to a coaching role in Pitt County through a Teacher Quality Partnership grant between East Carolina University and Pitt County Schools. This role helped her develop a coaching mind-set, as it highlighted the importance of working with early career professionals in their teaching roles. After a few years in this role, she had the opportunity to start coaching at the state level with the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program. This role has strengthened her belief that novice educators need strong instructional support during those first few crucial years in the classroom.
