Teachers across the state spent the days leading up to the school year attending Professional Development sessions presented by NC NTSP  coaches. Coaches will continue to provide these opportunities for learning throughout the year, sharing information focused on the areas of planning, instruction and assessment, while allowing time for teachers to collaborate with others. It is a time to learn, but also a time to grow relationships!

Teachers in Franklin County (FCS) had the opportunity to attend a new teacher institute. We began working with FCS in January of 2021, so this was our first in-person Professional Development and it was a great way to kick off the year!   Teachers shared that “being able to collaborate with other teachers” and learning “how equity is important in all areas” were highlights of the sessions.

Teachers start the day with music and movement!

In Orange County, UNC coaches met teachers and listened as they asked questions to a panel of educators. They were able to gather some real-world knowledge from teachers who were in the same position they were just a few years earlier. Former NC NTSP teacher, Cherfarrah Torrain, served as a panelist, answering questions and offering supportive advice!

In Chatham County, the UNC team met with county stakeholders to ensure that our year gets off to a great start! Making sure that coaches are on the same page as administrators, instructional coaches and other district and school staff helps to streamline our services, avoid mixed-messaging and protect the coach-teacher relationship.

Working with districts across the state allows us to meet, learn and grow right alongside so many phenomenal educators! We are excited to facilitate more of these opportunities this school year.
